Based on my experience and knowledge of Lincoln hospital I have gained a lot of information but, I am sad it had to end. I understand it’s the end of the school year but you should’ve started the internship more earlier in the school year because I really enjoyed it. The whole hospital is cool, the people I meet, and the things I and my other pears learned. I also like the way you give people the chance to work to have an even bigger experience and job experience on the awesome choices you gave.”

“Thanks so much for choosing us to work with y’all.”

“This program prepared me for the move from high school to college and helped me develop a college mindset. It also made it easier for me to become acquainted with how labs function while perusing a a degree in science. I will never forget this experience and how it helped me become the person I am today as I move into working in a laboratory setting.”

After many years of being focused on my career and the successes that this intense focus brought me, I have now been forced to the realization that one’s health and physical well-being also needs attention and being functionally fit is important.”

After many years of neglect and the failure to properly attend to my health needs, I found that all at once I had cancer, ulcerative colitis, chronic fatigue syndrome, and neurological problems. I just didn’t know where to begin or how to manage myself in seeking and getting the appropriate medical care needed to address these medical issues.”

I was fortunate to be assigned a health navigator by KFL to assist me. This is a pilot program of KFL set up to see the feasibility of offering health service navigation and assistance.  The health navigator noted all my illnesses and then took it upon herself to find qualified and caring doctors, who are at the top of their field of practice, and set up medical appointments and then go further in managing the follow-up tests and procedures needed for diagnosis and treatment, such as the nerve conduction test needed for neurology; the colonoscopy needed for treatment of the ulcerative colitis; and the MRI that has various uses for diagnosis. I received reminder messages and phone calls as well as follow-up conversations to see how things are going.  The health navigator pulled my head up from being lost and forgotten in the sand. Through her attention and direction, I am finally giving my health and physical well-being the attention it deserves. I am now a much happier and grateful person for it.”
